Honda has unveiled two electric motorcycle concept models, the “EV Fun Concept” and the “EV Urban Concept,” at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy.
By 2025 and beyond, Honda plans to expand its electric vehicle offerings to become a leader in the industry. The company has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 through all of its products and operations, with a specific focus on reaching carbon neutrality for its motorcycle line by the 2040s. To achieve this, Honda is prioritizing the electrification of its motorcycles as part of its overall environmental strategy. The addition of the new ‘EV Fun Concept’ and ‘EV Urban Concept’ demonstrates Honda’s progress towards their plan to introduce 30 electric models globally by 2030.
EV Fun Concept
Honda is currently working on their first electric sports model, known as the EV Fun Concept. This innovative motorcycle aims to provide riders with a quiet and emotionally-charged riding experience that can only be achieved with electric power. Along with Honda’s advanced motorcycle technologies that offer exceptional performance in terms of ride, handling, and braking, the fixed battery design allows for a slim and manageable chassis. This unique combination will provide a new and exciting experience for riders, enhancing their overall motorcycle lifestyle.
The system and charging capabilities of the EV Fun Concept were created using Honda’s expertise and technologies gained from their experience in producing automobiles and power products. The battery is designed to be used with a CCS2 quick charger, which is the same standard used for cars, and has been carefully developed to strike a balance between being lightweight and having efficient charging abilities. This results in a cruising range of 100km or more, making it suitable for city use.
EV Urban Concept
The EV Urban Concept represents Honda’s vision of urban electric mobility, completely redesigned from the ground up. It embodies a concept of upcoming mobility that works harmoniously with people and society through its sleek and advanced design, user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI), and innovative experiences created by the seamless integration of software and hardware. Honda aims to make the freedom of mobility accessible to all customers while continuously expanding the potential for individual mobility.
