From 2025, Nijmegen (the Netherlands) plans to implement three zero-emission zones: the Binnenstad (city center), Hof van Holland, and Heijendaal. In these areas, mopeds and scooters from 2010 or earlier will be prohibited. This initiative is part of the municipality’s strategy to enhance air quality in Nijmegen.

This policy is also crucial for businesses operating within these zones. They will be required to use emission-free delivery vehicles, such as electric or hydrogen-powered vans and trucks. While there will be a transition period for some vehicles, by 2030, only electric or hydrogen logistics vehicles will be allowed. Business owners can choose to invest in their own electric van or truck or utilize a shared delivery service that uses electric vehicles.

To uphold these regulations, authorities will deploy the Zero DS electric motorcycle from Zero Motorcycles. This Zero DS (A1 category), provided by Electric Motorbikes Nederland, will become a common presence on the streets of Nijmegen.
