The 2023 edition of the Super Hooligan National Championship with MotoAmerica saw the Energica Eva Ribelle, presented by Tytlers Cycle Racing and rider Stefano Mesa #137, take part. This year was far beyond anyone’s expectations.
At the end of the season, it was at CoTA where Energica made another landmark moment; when Stefano rode the Energica Eva Ribelle RS (equipped with the Kit Corsa Clienti) to a stunning second place finish in a competition that primarily featured ICE motorcycles.
CoTA or Circuit of The Americas is a long raceway, extending a total length of 3.426 miles – even longer than Daytona – and has 20 curves. Temperatures were hot there, reaching 39°C (102°F), but not too high for electric vehicles; as off the starting line Stefano placed himself in second then third position and held on until a red flag required him to return to the pits. Soon enough when action resumed he held on to stay on the podium, making use of this excellent opportunity.
Mesa’s aggressive braking techniques caused West to crash out of the competition, while McWilliams had a similar fate after battling with teammate O’Hara. This meant that Mesa went up from third to second place; an unexpected and exciting result that was celebrated by Energica CTO Giampiero Testoni and the Energica Owners, who could not have been more pleased with the 2023 Energica Week (held from Sept 5-10).
