Source: press release – Kawasaki Motors Europe – A few weeks back, the news broke about Kawasaki’s first electric-powered motorbikes, the Ninja-e1 and Z-e1. Now, in a major move towards carbon neutrality, they have introduced the world’s first widely produced Strong Hybrid motorcycle—the Ninja 7 Hybrid.
Introducing the all-new Ninja 7 Hybrid, a motorcycle that seeks to revolutionize the industry. The first models are set to grace showroom floors in January of 2024. At the core of this machine lies an innovative combination of a brand new 451 cc parallel twin, water-cooled four-stroke engine with selectable gears and a traction motor plus battery. This futuristic amalgamation promises to provide riders with an array of new experiences and capabilities, boasting a hybrid net power of 51.1 kw thanks to e-boost technology.
The Ninja 7 Hybrid offers the power of a 650 cc-700 cc class vehicle, with the instantaneous acceleration of a 1,000 cc-class supersport model when you start up. It also boasts unparalleled fuel economy compared to a 250cc-class machine and an electric button shift for sport riding. Plus, you can switch between three different modes (SPORT-HYBRID, ECO-HYBRID, EV**) offering distinct riding styles for all types of environments.
The vehicle has been fitted with several technological advancements like idling stop, which turns off the combustion engine when it comes to a standstill, in order to save fuel and decrease emissions. Additionally, Automatic Launch Position Finder (ALPF) can be activated, enabling it to select first gear automatically which makes low speed manoeuvring and parking smoother (forward and reverse “walk mode”).
Using a special adaptation of the classic trellis type frame from Kawasaki, the engine and 9 kw max traction motor have been fitted in a compact design with the 48 V lithium ion battery central to the chassis for optimal weight distribution. The styling of the Ninja 7 Hybrid is unique, featuring a matte lime green under cowl combined with silver and black bodywork that will differentiate this bike from all others on the road.
The design of the motorcycle presents a relaxed and sporty riding position, making it comfortable for riders to reach the high-grade cockpit and switchgear. The meters feature a full-color TFT display, while the RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE app provides smartphone connectivity that contributes to an improved motorcycling experience.
The Ninja 7 Hybrid is an impressive motorcycle, the first of its kind. It sets a high bar for HEV motorcycling, able to navigate both the urban jungle and countryside backroads with ease. Combining the best elements of ICE and EV models results in something greater than the sum of its parts – something that will change the way you ride forever. From its exciting character to all the innovative features it has to offer riders, the Ninja 7 Hybrid truly marks a new era in riding experiences.
Unfortunately, pricing information is still being determined and is not currently available. However, according to Kawasaki, the 2024 Ninja 7 HEV should hit the UK and European dealerships in January of 2024.
