THE PACK recently spoke with Gideon Schipaanboord from RGNT Motorcycles (Sweden) about the company’s recent changes. After an extended absence, founder Jonathan Åström has reclaimed ownership of the EV motorbike company earlier this year, which he originally established in 2019. Alongside Gideon, who handles marketing and sales, and Alexander Lewandowski, the CTO and Head of Design, they have formed a new company called RGNT Reborn. They asked Jonas Brimse (after sales) and Timmy Erikson (head of production) to join on this cool journey.
“Our main focus right now is maintaining our pan-European dealer and service network and expanding it even further in the near future,” says Gideon. “We’ve also implemented a ‘Connectivity-program’ for existing customers to ensure they have access to after-service and connectivity for their RGNT motorbikes. We are currently concentrating on the French, German and Benelux markets, with plans to enter the rest of Europe and the US market later on.”
“With all the assets we acquired from the previous incarnation of RGNT, our goal is to offer a limited run of approx. 100 RGNT motorcycles by 2024. It would be a waste not to utilize all these motorcycles and parts that are now at our disposal,” shares Gideon. “The price for these motorbikes will be around €12K with a one-year warranty. Our first generation model has already sold out, but the SE model will maintain its current price starting from €15K.”
Guy Salens | THE PACK: “I’m glad to hear that a company like RGNT Reborn is getting a fresh start. It won’t be an easy journey, as the latest news about electric vehicles has been quite negative with lower sales, bankruptcies, and takeovers. I truly hope that Jonathan Åström and his team can bring this unique electric motorbike back on track with the help of their current and new dealers in Europe.”
Gert-Jan Rongen | Electric Motorbikes Nederland: “This “reborn” phase is a positive step for both our e-mobility industry and our own company. We are thrilled to continue offering this well-known Swedish brand of electric motorbikes. As one of the first multi-brand stores to import RGNT into the Netherlands in 2019, we are excited to see where this new chapter takes us.”
Meanwhile, Alexander Lewandowski and his production team are working on a new model for release in 2025. The retro-concept of the bikes will remain intact due to overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers who appreciate its unique style.
