Source: Danmarks Motor Union | The Sports Commission announced that from 2023 it will also be allowed to participate in the “85cc” Denmark tournament on an Electric Speedway machine.
Initially, it is the system from E-Racing that is approved for participation in the tournament, but they welcome other manufacturers as long as they meet the technical and safety requirements.
2022 was a test season in which many laps were run on the electric machine, and the Sports Commission has now assessed that, thanks to close cooperation with Michel Riis and Marco Hansen from E-Racing, a very good and controllable solution has been found to introduce electricity in the Danish Speedway tournament.
The whole kit has been tested in an engine bench and has been set to fit a completely standard Suzuki 85cc machine (and therefore not an optimized 85). During the season, an eye will be kept on how competitive it is, and if it turns out that it is too fast or too slow, continuous adjustments can be made.
In addition to participating in the tournament, SK also sees electricity as an opportunity partly to contribute to a sustainable transition, and partly to attract a new group of interested parties who may not have grown up with petrol in the backyard, and do not know how to adjust a carburetor or valves.
