Electric Motion unveils 2027 Epure Factor-e with new battery and chassis

French manufacturer Electric Motion (EM) has presented the 2027 version of the Epure Factor-e, its flagship electric trials motorcycle. The motor and four-speed gearbox carry over from the current bike. The main updates are a new high-voltage battery, a new chassis, a revised riding position and new bodywork.

EM lists the 2027 bike at 73 kg, with a top speed of 85 km/h, up to 3.5 hours of riding and 1400 Nm of torque in first gear. It is road-legal in the 125 class.

New 2.0 kWh high-voltage battery

The Factor-e previously came with a choice of 1.8 kWh or 2.5 kWh batteries. For 2027, EM replaces both with a single 2.0 kWh high-voltage pack. The new pack sits in a magnesium casing, which EM says is lighter and stiffer than before and better integrated into the chassis.

According to EM, the higher voltage lets the bike keep its full performance for longer as the charge drops. The battery can still be removed and swapped in under 60 seconds. Riders who want more range can use a second battery for 4.0 kWh in total. EM is also offering a battery rental program as an alternative to buying a second pack.

New chassis and ergonomics

The chassis was developed specifically for the 2027 model, with the aim of centralizing mass. EM claims quicker direction changes, more stability over obstacles and more precise line choice. New aluminium tie rods add rigidity to the chassis.

The riding position has been redesigned. New triple clamps offer four positions, so the bike can be set up for rider size and style. The bodywork is slimmer and made from a new material that EM says is more durable, flexible and impact-resistant.

The 2027 model also gets a new TFT display, integrated into the chassis. It includes a Trial Mode with a built-in section timer that keeps the remaining time visible while riding a section. A new handlebar-mounted power button makes starting the bike simpler.

Powertrain carried over

The EM-designed motor is unchanged. It produces up to 18 kW, revs to 14,000 rpm and has a power-to-weight ratio of 3.3 kW/kg. The 1400 Nm figure is measured in first gear, through the gearing, not at the motor. The motor has a carbon-sleeved rotor, is air-cooled, and has 40% more inertia than EM’s earlier unit.

The four-speed gearbox and triple-disc hydraulic diaphragm clutch remain. EM assigns each gear a purpose:

  • First: slow technical sections
  • Second: faster natural terrain
  • Third: a mix of trials and trail riding
  • Fourth: long transfers

For 2027, EM says shifting is faster and smoother. Three engine maps come preset and can be adjusted through the EM Connect app. The TECH rear shock, developed by Marc Colomer, carries over. It has 24 clicks of rebound adjustment and 1 to 10 mm of preload.

Developed through competition

The Epure first raced at the FIM Trial World Championship round in Auron, France, in 2018. EM credits Christophe Bruand, Marc Colomer, Jeroni Fajardo, Gaël Chatagno and Takumi Narita with shaping the bike’s development. In the 2026 season, Benoît Bincaz has been racing the Factor-e against the TrialGP field in the FIM Trial World Championship.
