B2B News | UBCO DUTY fleet lands in New Zealand for NZ Post
B2B News | Source: LinkedIn | New Zealand Post has taken delivery of its UBCO DUTY fleet. The electric delivery vehicles are now in the country and will be distributed to NZ Post branches starting in early October.

For UBCO, the deal carries extra weight. The company is New Zealand-based, so the NZ Post contract puts its purpose-built delivery machine to work in its home market.

Designed around the postal route
The DUTY was developed specifically for postal work. UBCO’s brief focused on dependable performance across daily routes, usable cargo capacity, rider comfort and lower maintenance needs.

The vehicle uses a lightweight step-through layout with a low centre of gravity, intended to make it easier to handle in the frequent stop-start manoeuvres typical of mail delivery. The electric drivetrain cuts back on servicing compared to combustion equivalents, which UBCO says keeps vehicles in operation for longer and lowers running costs for the fleet operator.
From city centre to countryside
NZ Post will deploy the DUTY across a mix of environments, including dense urban areas, suburban networks and rural delivery routes. That spread will put the vehicle’s range, load handling and durability to the test under very different daily conditions.

Following Australia Post
The New Zealand rollout follows UBCO’s earlier work with Australia Post and its delivery contractors, where the DUTY was already in service. Adding NZ Post strengthens UBCO’s position as a supplier of electric utility two-wheelers to national postal operators in the region.

Details such as the number of vehicles in the NZ Post fleet and the full rollout timeline beyond October have not been disclosed.
