The Ather 450X is one of India’s first premium electric scooters built from ground up. This scooter is a significant step-up from the Ather 450 with improvements across multiple key parameters. It’s more quicker, more intelligent than its predecessor and comes in three new colours: Grey, Green and White.
The scooter is powered with a 6kW PMSM motor, a new 2.9 kWh lithium ion battery and comes with 4 riding modes. In addition to Eco, Ride and Sport, Ather introduces a new 4th high performance mode, ‘Warp’. Ather 450X can go from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.3 sec in the Warp mode, making it very fast in its category and the perfect choice to navigate through the city.
The improvement in its battery has enabled a projected Indian Drive Cycle (IDC) range of 116 km and a real life range of 85 km in city conditions. Ather 450X will also charge 50% faster than before.
The electric scooter will have a 4G SIM card and Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to manage phone calls and music on the touchscreen dashboard. The new 7” touchscreen dashboard, comes with a color depth of 16M and a Snapdragon Quad Core processor.
Android Open Source has been used to offer map navigation, On-board diagnostics and other unique features like Over-the-air updates, Auto Indicator off and Guide-me-home lights.
The Ather mobile app will continue to offer personalised ride statistics, charging status, push navigation and more functionalities like theft & tow detection, live location & vehicle state tracking, voice assistant and welcome lights. Ather 450X will support connected accessories like smart helmets and tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
Ownership Model
The company has redefined the ownership and purchase models for Ather 450X scooter. This model will be offered with new innovative flexible options in the form of performance packs. This will enable customers the flexibility to switch between performance packs as well as receive free battery replacement in the event of battery degradation, ensuring consistent performance throughout the registered life of the scooter.
The super scooter will be offered with two performance pack options: Pro & Plus that owners can switch between at their convenience. Each pack has been designed to offer a variety of smart and connected features and ride capabilities. Owners will no longer be limited by fixed variants and vehicle models.
Ather Grid charging network
Ather Grid, solves the critical need of public charging of electric vehicles. The Ather Grid network spans across 39 charging points in Bengaluru and 14 charging points in Chennai. The company has plans to expand the network and set-up 6500 EV charging Points in 30 cities by 2023.
The charging network can be used by all electric vehicles through the Ather Grid App. The company aims to have an Ather Grid Point no more than 4 km driving distance from the next one. The charging Point locations have been selected to reduce the hassle of spending hours at a charging station. The Ather charging stations are located in the majorly frequented places e.g the malls, tech parks and cafes which fits in the lifestyle of the consumers.
Ather Grid charging network is spread across major locations in Bengaluru including Whitefield, Electronic city, Indiranagar covering major Tech park, malls, cafes and restaurants, places that o er consumers the chance to spend time while charging their vehicles. The same model is followed in Chennai where the charging points are present at cafes, restaurants, malls and co-working spaces across major locations in the city.
Ather is redefining urban mobility in India one city at a time. Like Chennai & Bengaluru, Ather will equip other key markets like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad with multiple fast charging Ather Grid points and Ather experience centres, prior to the deliveries planned in Q3 of 2020. To ease the public charging experience, Ather Grid will be available in locations like malls, cafes, supermarkets and tech parks.
The company will be expanding its distribution network in 2020 with the announcement of the setting up of dealerships across India. The setting up of a new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu will ramp up production capacity and the company will begin deliveries in more than ten cities adding Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad among others in the coming years.
