BMW Motorrad has updated its urban light electric vehicle, the CE 04

Source: press release BMW | When the BMW CE 04 first hit the streets in the summer of 2021, it didn’t just launch, it redefined the electric scooter category. With its futuristic design, zero-emission drivetrain, and bold stance, the CE 04 quickly became the benchmark for electric two-wheel mobility in cities. And now, BMW Motorrad is giving its urban champion a fresh update.

Fresh looks

The CE 04 still leads the pack in the segment of electric scooters and motorcycles over 11 kW — and the latest update makes it even more appealing. Three distinct design variants are now available:

  • Basic: a clean and minimalistic look in Lightwhite with a black-grey seat and clear windshield.
  • Avantgarde: eye-catching and expressive with Gravity Blue metallic matte bodywork and Sao Paulo Yellow accents. Features include a dual-tone Pro seat, yellow-tinted windshield, and a laser-engraved rear wheel.
  • Exclusive: sophisticated in Spacesilver metallic, with extended wind and weather protection, handguards, heated comfort seat with new fabric, CE 04 embroidery, and yes, a laser-engraved rear wheel rim too.

The Avantgarde and Exclusive trims showcase laser-etched rear wheels, highlighting BMW’s attention to futuristic styling.

Urban powerhouse with electric soul

With a maximum output of 31 kW (42 hp), the BMW CE 04 is anything but a typical city scooter. It rockets from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, ideal for dominating city traffic lights. A 23 kW (31 hp) version is also available for A1 license holders.

Its 8.9 kWh battery delivers a range of up to 130 km (100 km for the reduced-output version), making daily commutes and short weekend rides smooth, clean, and stress-free.

Smart charging, zero hassle

BMW brought its automotive charging know-how to the CE 04. Whether charging at a regular socket, wallbox, or public station, the process is seamless. Go from empty to full in 4 hours 20 minutes, or speed things up with the optional 6.9 kW quick charger: just 1 hour 40 minutes from 0 to 100%, or 45 minutes from 20% to 80%.

Ride modes & stability tech, that’s pure BMW

As expected from the Bavarians, dynamic safety tech is front and center:

  • ASC (Automatic Stability Control) comes standard
  • DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) available as an option
  • ABS Pro with cornering function as another optional upgrade

Three riding modes – ECO, RAIN, and ROAD – come standard. Want more kick? Opt for the DYNAMIC mode and experience sharper acceleration and enhanced riding feel.

Comfort and connectivity

One of the CE 04’s standout features is the 10.25” full-colour TFT display with built-in navigation and smartphone connectivity, standard equipment. Add to that:

  • Actively cooled phone charging compartment with USB-C port
  • Side and front storage compartments (yes, the helmet compartment can be opened while seated!)
  • Optional comfort seat with heating
  • Optional large windscreen with integrated hand protectors

BMW also offers a range of rider-focused options: centre stand, alarm system, heated grips, tyre pressure monitoring, quick charger, and more.

LED lighting & adaptive headlight

The lighting setup is fully LED, including the headlamp, indicators, and taillight. Riders can also spec the Adaptive Headlight Pro, which illuminates corners at night for better visibility and safety. Optional welcome/goodbye light animations add a premium finishing touch.

Design that turns heads, and points to the future

The CE 04 isn’t trying to hide the fact that it’s an electric vehicle, it embraces it. From the floating seat design to the futuristic “disc wheel” look and side-integrated kickstand, every inch feels like a statement. Whether in minimal white or bold blue and yellow, the CE 04 is unmistakably BMW Motorrad.

BMW CE 04 – Quick specs at a glance

  • Max power: 31 kW (42 hp) / A1 version: 23 kW (31 hp)
  • Battery: 60.6 Ah (8.9 kWh)
  • Range: Up to 130 km (100 km reduced output)
  • Top speed: 120 km/h
  • Charging: 4h20 standard / 1h40 with optional quick charger
  • Ride modes: ECO, RAIN, ROAD (DYNAMIC optional)

Urban solution

Built in Berlin, the BMW CE 04 combines forward-thinking tech, bold design, and urban practicality in a way no other scooter does. It’s not just a commuter, it’s an experience. Whether you’re a city slicker, a style seeker, or simply done with petrol pumps, the CE 04 is ready for your streets.
