Bonnell launches 805 RX, first model in new e-Moto range
Bonnell has introduced the 805 RX, an electric dirt bike marking the launch of the brand’s e-Moto range. The bike is available now in the US through Bonnell’s dealer network and online, with a starting price of $8,250.
The 805 RX is aimed at the mid-size electric dirt bike category, with adult-sized ergonomics and adjustable footpeg and handlebar positions to accommodate different rider sizes. Bonnell says the platform was developed as an integrated system covering motor, battery, chassis, suspension, controls and software, rather than built around a single performance figure.
“We built the 805 to be a bike that doesn’t put riders in a box,” said Matt Wauters, Bonnell CEO and Founder. “Whether someone is getting into electric dirt bikes for the first time, riding technical enduro terrain, or pushing the bike at an expert level, the 805 tailors the performance and control to their ride and their capabilities. Versatility is really what the 805 is all about.”
Power and weight
The bike weighs 218 pounds (99 kg). Its powertrain, designed in-house by Bonnell, produces 56 hp (42 kW) and 594 lb-ft (805 Nm) of rear-wheel torque, with a top speed above 80 mph (130 km/h). Power delivery is adjustable through five configurable ride modes plus reverse, each covering speed limits, traction control and off-throttle regen independently.
Swappable battery
The 805 RX uses a removable battery that Bonnell says can be swapped in around 30 seconds. The battery can also be taken out for charging and storage away from the bike. Bonnell states the platform is designed to remain compatible with future battery packs.
Chassis, suspension and brakes
The frame is forged aluminum with a hydroformed swingarm. Suspension comes from Sirris, with an F43 fork and R46 rear shock delivering 9.6 inches (245 mm) of travel front and rear; Bonnell says the setup was developed over two years of testing across trail, MX and hard enduro use, with input from more than 20 riders. Braking uses Bonnell-designed forged calipers with dual 22 mm pistons front and rear.
Controls and display
Bonnell’s Electronic Finger Lever is a Hall-effect throttle-based control that handles functions including traction control, speed limit, wheel lift assist, regenerative braking and e-clutch input, and can serve as a backup throttle. It’s paired with a display and a secondary controller Bonnell calls the Joy-Con, together forming what the company calls the Pulse Control System. The display shows real-time data on motor, controller and battery temperature, along with speed, power limits and trip and maintenance data – Bonnell says it is the first e-Moto to show component temperatures directly on the rider display.
The bike also includes Walk Mode for low-speed maneuvering without the throttle, and Hill Hold, which locks the motor after one second stationary on an incline and releases power gradually when the rider moves off again. A parental lock feature lets owners set password-protected limits on maximum power, speed and torque while still allowing ride-mode tuning within those limits.
Charging and tools
The 805 RX ships with a 1500W charger compatible with 110V and 220V outlets, with a stated full-charge time of about two hours. A 2500W fast charger is available as an option, charging in under an hour on 220V. Every bike includes a toolkit for assembly and maintenance, packed in a foam-lined case.
Racing and roadmap
Bonnell factory rider Max Beaupre is currently leading the Pro Electric class in the US Hard Enduro Championship on a prototype 805 RX. Bonnell says it plans to continue racing the bike across other off-road disciplines. A full-size model, the 902, is in development for 2027 as the range’s next addition.
