Evoke Electric Motorcycles approved for LAMS in New Zealand

Evoke Electric Motorcycles announced that their “Urban Series” motorcycles have been listed as motorcycles appropriate for learners on the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS) by the New Zealand Transport Agency. The smart eco-friendly motorcycles were designed to be safer, and user-friendly with new riders in mind and a first-choice for daily commuters.

With this, Evoke’s technology has significantly reduced the learning curve, as these electric vehicles highlight the ease and safety of commuting. This milestone has led to achieving the goal of widening the age demographic to start from age 16. The Urban Series having three different riding modes namely Eco, City, and Pro at 125cc, 250cc and 450cc respectively, technically, means having three different motorcycles in one.

Kevin Harty from Evoke Electric Motorcycles New Zealand has sent us his comment by e-mail: “I have also added some notes from another report on the LAMS issue: Evoke Motorcycles’ Urban Series of bikes have been listed as motorcycles appropriate for learners on the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS) by the NZ Transport Agency. Previously, only riders with a full motorcycle license could ride the electric bikes,” says Evoke New Zealand agent Kevin Harty who had a stand at the EV World NZ expo in Auckland. “The eco-friendly motorcycles are designed to be safer and user-friendly, especially for commuting, with new riders from the age of 16 up in mind. They’re so easy to ride,” Harty says, adding he expects sales to soar now that LAMS approval has been obtained. Harty says he gets inquiries from people of all ages, both men and women, and even people who have never been interested in motorcycles before.
