At the Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico, Italy, the Australian group Vmoto arranged a demonstration to compare light electric vehicles and traditional combustion engine vehicles, highlighting the readiness and maturity of EVs for urban transportation.
At the conference, Vmoto unveiled their latest development: a prototype for a Superfast charging battery. Compared to the standard version used in their current range, this new battery is smaller and lighter while also cutting charging time drastically. In just 30 minutes, it can go from 0% to 80%. This innovation expands Vmoto’s offerings for urban mobility, as both the fast-charging and speed battery will continue to be produced. This means that one scooter model will have two options for batteries, allowing customers to choose the best fit for their needs. The new fast-charging option can benefit B2B clients with reduced downtime for delivery services or heavy users, while the existing speed battery will remain the preferred choice for daily use.
The prototype reveal was attended by esteemed guests Jorge Lorenzo, a 5-time MotoGP champion and Global Testimonial for Vmoto, and Dario Marchetti, Vmoto’s World Ambassador. The final version of the battery will be officially presented at EICMA 2024. After the press conference, journalists and dealers from across Europe had the chance to participate in a comparative test between three Vmoto L3 vehicles and three traditional gasoline bikes. This test aimed to demonstrate how EVs are already on par with gas models in terms of urban mobility, with a focus on handling, acceleration, and overall riding experience.
Every scooter model will have two options for batteries, allowing customers to choose the best fit for their needs.
The focus of the comparison was based on the difference between ICEV and EV in term of:
- Cost of use
- Maintenance costs
- Vehicle durability
- Riding experience and handling
- Stop & go and acceleration
