Source: Newron Motors | Founded by Bertrand Piccard, a global pioneer and visionary of sustainable development, the Solar Impulse Foundation identifies and awards ideas that are clean, efficient, and profitable solutions in order to accelerate their implementation and foster the transition to a sustainable economy. The foundation leverages independent experts following a strict selection process to award the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. By ensuring high standards of sustainability and profitability, this internationally recognized label is a significant recognition for innovators.
Already gaining recognition as a luxury and high-performance motorcycle which is sustainable and good for the planet, the team of the Newron EV-1 is extremely proud and honored to be part of the 1000 solutions for climate change labeled by the Solar Impulse Foundation.
When Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg succeeded in flying 43,000 km around the world in a solar-powered airplane without using a drop of fuel, it was more than a historic first journey, it was a first to highlight that the potential of clean technologies can do more than we ever thought possible: reduce our energy consumption, protect natural resources and improve the quality of life on Earth.
To address environmental challenges while enabling economic growth, Bertrand Piccard has launched, through the Solar Impulse Foundation, the challenge of selecting 1000 profitable solutions to protect the environment in order to convince decision-makers in governments and businesses to achieve their environmental targets and adopt more ambitious energy policies, which are necessary to bring these solutions to market.
Newron Motors aim: to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free and sustainable economy. Since its inception, the Newron team’s sole aim is to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free and sustainable economy.
Newron Motors complies with sustainability and climate change in various ways:
- The EV-1 electric motorcycle is the first one on the market to use the battery pack as a structural element of the motorcycle. Thus, there is no longer need for an additional frame, saving weight, materials and increasing efficiency.
- The battery pack uses a patented technology for cell assembly. The cells can be easily recovered at the end of vehicle life and reused for stationary storage, for example. This breakthrough allows a reduction of waste and the ability for Newron to offer to its customers the latest cell technology and performance.
- Over 70 % of the motorcycle parts comes from recycled and recyclable material like aluminum.
- The motorcycle fairings are made with linen fiber, bio-resin, and locally sourced wood veneer species.
