B2B News | Indian electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette has confirmed plans for a major new manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, calling it the “BIGGA Factory”- short for “BIG Global Ambition.” The announcement marks a significant scale-up for the company, which has so far built its reputation on the strength of its Bengaluru-based operations.
According to Ultraviolette, the new facility will support an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles, with the underlying infrastructure designed to scale further to 500,000 units in a later phase. That would represent a dramatic jump from the company’s current output, and signals real confidence in demand for its lineup of electric motorcycles and scooters.
Among the first vehicles expected to roll off the BIGGA Factory line is the Tesseract, Ultraviolette’s much-anticipated upcoming model, alongside the next generation of the brand’s motorcycles and scooters.
The plant is being built around Industry 4.0 principles, with an emphasis on advanced automation and digital manufacturing processes. Ultraviolette says the facility is expected to create around 2,000 jobs initially, with further hiring anticipated as production scales over the next five years.
Importantly, the company has stressed that its original Bengaluru facility will remain central to its operations, continuing to serve as the hub for research, development, and manufacturing even as Hosur comes online.
Ultraviolette also acknowledged the role of the Tamil Nadu state government in supporting the project, crediting local policy for helping create favorable conditions for large-scale engineering and manufacturing investment.
The move positions Ultraviolette as one of the more ambitious players in India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler sector, betting on serious industrial scale at a moment when many EV startups are still finding their footing. If the BIGGA Factory delivers on its stated capacity, it would place Ultraviolette among the larger dedicated EV manufacturing operations in the country.
