Oben Electric tops India’s electric motorcycle registrations in September 2026

B2B News | Source: Blog Oben Electric | Oben Electric registered 1,417 electric motorcycles in India in September 2026, according to data from Vahan, the national vehicle registration database, cited by the company. The Bengaluru-based manufacturer says this makes it the country’s best-selling electric motorcycle brand for the month. It is also the highest monthly total in the company’s history.

The ranking covers electric motorcycles only, a segment that remains small next to electric scooters in India’s two-wheeler market. Oben did not publish figures for competing brands.

Rorr Evo drives the volume

Oben attributes the result to the Rorr Evo. The company positions the model as a motorcycle to be judged on performance, design, range and daily usability, with the electric powertrain as a given, not the selling point. It is aimed at riders comparing it with combustion models as much as at buyers already set on going electric.

Founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal called the result a validation of customer trust in the brand and the model. She pointed to India’s position as the world’s largest motorcycle market and said the shift to electric mobility “cannot truly reach scale without electric motorcycles playing a central role.”

10,000 units built

The sales record coincides with a production milestone: the 10,000th Oben motorcycle recently left the Bengaluru plant. The 3.5-acre site has a stated annual capacity of 100,000 units.

In-house technology

Oben develops and manufactures its key components itself, including LFP batteries, motors, vehicle control units, chargers and software. The company says this gives it control over engineering, quality and production, and lets it build for Indian riding conditions. Both R&D and manufacturing are based in India.

Retail and service network

The brand now counts more than 150 showrooms and Oben Care service centres in over 90 cities across 18 states, covering sales, test rides, deliveries and after-sales service.

Outlook

Oben says its integrated setup is meant to support further growth in India and, in the longer term, international expansion. No timeline or target markets were given.
