OSET debuted the 24.0 concept bike at the UK Dirt Bike Show at the end of 2014. From that time forward the 24.0 has been developed into the incredible 2017 production models. A powerful new OSET motor, controller, and battery have been designed to work in unison on this machine. This was truly a ground up design that takes OSET into new territory and new heights.
This is NOT just a trials bike. This is possibly the most fun electric bike ever created, and appeals to a vast range of ages and riding interests. From youth and adult trials riders, to mountain bikers, to parents following their youngsters, to a cool pit bike, to a back yard training machine. This machine suits so many!
The OSET 24.0 features high end components, 19” motorcycle rims are strong and light, mated with trials tires front and rear, resulting in a taller, lighter bike more suited for teenagers and adults up to 90kg (198lbs). The 20ah high output OSET lithium battery offers increased power and run time, while reducing weight. The motor is a new 1400w OSET unit with hardened sprockets, and heavy duty chain. The OSET controller is a high power unit and features the fully adjustable power, speed, and throttle response to suit the rider. The adjustable RST forks, and new DNM rear shock, provide increased travel and smooth ride. Avid hydraulic brakes with a 180mm discs front and rear ensure powerful, progressive braking. Also, the new magnetic lanyard adds a level of safety and is competition legal.
The 24.0R model has spent a lot of time in the hands of Oliver Smith, Chris Northover and Jack Field – all very familiar riders with tens of millions of YouTube views between them. These are very advanced riders pulling some big moves! At the same time, the adjust-ability allows the bike to be used by beginners taking their first steps into the world of motorcycles.
OSET Lithium Battery Pack
The OSET lithium battery pack is a 48v, 20 amp/hour pack capable of taking an OSET further and faster than ever before.
Ian Smith said: “It’s taken several years of development and testing to arrive at this stage. To manufacture lithium batteries correctly is a long process, requiring careful selection of materials, cells to be used, structure, and with ease of use and reliability of utmost importance.”
The primary concern for the new OSET Lithium battery pack was safety coupled with performance. The lithium pack comes with an inbuilt battery management system to prevent over charging, over discharging and a number of key performance parameters. Lightweight and simple to charge, users can simply plug it in and let the charger do the rest.
Financially, lithium batteries are by far the biggest single component cost in the bikes. Ian describes it as: “It’s like buying a bike with years’ worth of free fuel.”

The story of OSET
The formation of OSET CORP and the development of OSET electric dirt bikes was inspired by young Oliver Smith, son of OSET founder Ian Smith. At the age of 6 months Oliver was already obsessed with bikes. As Oliver got older, the obsession continued. In 2004, Ian came up with the concept of an electric Trials bike and together with Mike Buchholz, a fellow Trials rider and a retired engineer, they completed the first prototype when Oliver was 3 years 3 months old. 1 week later, he rode his first Trials competition!
From this point forward they started working towards production. A Corporation was formed, more prototypes were built, manufacturers contacted. Patents were applied for. Lawyers were engaged for Trademarks and contracts were drawn up. Fast forward to December 2010 the company moved from America over to the new UK Headquarters in the south of England. OSET is now in over 25 countries around the world.
OSET UK Ltd now employs a team of people to help with the OSET cause as well as consulting with a host of well respected companies to ensure OSET Bikes are developed and produced effectively. The UK has a stable network of dealers with most of the counties having good representation. OSET’s UK headquarters is also responsible for the development and testing of OSET products.
OSET is continuing to develop new bikes and is working on several exciting projects. OSET is always looking to extend and build upon the possibilities electric technology can be applied to, and is constantly striving to deliver well developed and competitive products into the marketplace.
OSET UK Ltd is also pro actively working with many Clubs around the UK in order to assist and support their ‘OSET Cup’ Championships. Many clubs are now welcoming youngsters on electric bikes, and the future looks bright for trials as a result.
The last few years have been incredible and exciting for OSET. They launched new bikes, travelled to shows all over the world, and their bikes dominated podiums in various competitions (including all the top positions in the British ‘D’ Class Championship for 3 years running), launched a new magazine ‘OSET Rider’ and so much more! As they continue to grow with more events, more bikes, more wins (hopefully) and more people joining the OSET family their future is bright and they cannot wait to carry on spreading the love for two wheels!
