RFN announced as naming rights partner of SX85 Futures category in the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship

RFN has become the new naming rights partner of the SX85 Futures category in the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship, presented by Monster Energy, with the category now racing as the RFN SX85 Futures. The deal covers three rounds of the 2026 season: the AUSX Open at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong (November 7), AUSX Supercross in Perth at HBF Park (November 14), and AUSX Supercross in Newcastle at McDonald Jones Stadium (November 28).

The partnership extends beyond branding. RFN electric motorcycles will race directly in the RFN SX85 Futures category against combustion-powered 85cc machines, putting the two technologies head-to-head on the same Supercross track.

Regulatory basis

The move follows Motorcycling Australia’s decision to permit approved electric motorcycles to compete in Australian Supercross. Electric machines are eligible to race within existing competition classes, subject to Motorcycling Australia’s eligibility criteria, technical regulations, and inspection requirements. RFN’s entry will run under those rules; the SX85 Futures category itself remains combined rather than split into separate electric and combustion classes.

RFN Australia’s 2026 Warrior range includes the Warrior Pro SX-E15, built for the 85cc class.

AUSX and RFN on the deal

Mick Sinclair, Head of Partnerships & Motorsport at AUSX Events, called the naming rights deal a landmark for Australian Supercross given that RFN’s bikes will also be on the start gate, and said the category is not being split in two – electric and combustion machines will race together in the same class.

“This isn’t about creating a separate electric category. Electric and combustion motorcycles will race together in the appropriate class, and we’re excited to provide the platform for that competition to happen.”

John Bettini, General Manager of RFN Australia, said the partnership gives RFN a chance to demonstrate its technology in direct competition against combustion 85s, and linked the move to the brand’s focus on developing younger riders.

“We believe the best way to prove electric motorcycle technology is on the racetrack. Having our bikes line up alongside combustion 85s gives us the opportunity to demonstrate their performance in genuine Supercross competition.”
