Inspired by the iconic motorbikes from the 70s, RTR Electric Motorcycles’ first premium electric model is the 799e Scrambler. Founded by Gustavo Lourenço, who had led Retrorides for 30 years, the company was ready to take a major step and launch their own electric motorcycle brand.
RTR 799e Scrambler
The RTR 799e is a unique electric scrambler created for city use to be instantaneously powerful and easy to handle with no gears or clutches necessary; just ride! The homologation process in Brazil is happening now with production set to begin in December 2023. Prices have not yet been released.
Once fully charged, the battery will take you 120 km. Charging is done through residential outlets (110/220 volts) and takes about 5 hours for a full charge (80% in 1.5 hours). Although currently using lithium ion batteries, there are also tests being conducted with different batteries that could give riders up to 220 km on one charge. However, further testing needs to be done before official numbers are released.
The bike boasts 8kw of power in its hub motor, which can be increased to 12kW with the press of a button on the handlebars. This allows the bike to go faster than 127 km/h. In addition, 799e has a 7-liter glove compartment for storage and a USB charger for cells phones. Its brakes are regenerative, so any energy used is put back into the battery.
Gustavo Lourenço: “We are still making improvements to this motorbike, such as a blind spot sensor, removable battery, plus other features we haven’t revealed yet. The launch date is December 2023 and pre-sale reservations are now open – these exclusive bikes have limited availability!”
Customisation
We feel that electric bikes can have a personalized look, while still delivering performance and industry-leading technology. Our customers will be able to access a virtual garage on our website (which is being created), where they can design their own motorcycle. They’ll be able to choose colors, seat styles, tires, fenders, headlights, side plates, and more. We work with sustainable materials that won’t damage the environment, and build our motorbikes to last and upgradeable. Plus, we use new tech to make them even safer.
With the opportunity for customization, we preserve the custom dna and spirit of “handcrafted by hand”.
Gustavo Lourenço
Brazilian commuters
The next step of our plan is to craft an economical motorcycle accessible to all Brazilian workers, one that is reliable, resistant, and offers a range and capacity superior to other models in its category. Additionally, it will come with a price tag more affordable than its combustion-based counterparts, creating a chance for Brazil to switch to clean transport on a wide scale without any additional infrastructure costs. This makes us attractive both for firms with their own fleets and startups offering motorcycle rentals.
Investors wanted
We are in the process of locating and selecting investors who share our objectives and ideals, to help us reach our goal quicker and more effectively. This will enable us to build these motorcycles in Brazil, a country that has much to offer when it comes to electrical mobility and shifting how we travel.
