Dust Moto (US) is on a mission to bring about a new era of powered two-wheel recreation by combining the powersports industry with emergent mobility technology. They develop accessible performance electric vehicles that facilitate the bond between riders, electric vehicle and environment. The team trusts that, armed with the correct implements, they can help more people get involved in the sport than ever before; allowing riders to break free from the demands of modern life, test their own boundaries, create closer ties to those around them and ultimately live an extraordinary life.
Design philosophy
The team at Dust utilizes an approach called “building in public” (BIP) to open up the design process. This includes being transparent, inviting key people like users, experts, evangelists and investors to be part of the journey. This way, end users get a more exclusive and higher level of access to the development of Dust products and brand. The combination of professional and consumer activation helps create a “prosumer” experience, as both sides help shape the design and development process.
The Founders50 Program – how does it work?
Founders50 is a unique crowdfunding project that offers backers a twenty month journey into the development of a bike and brand from scratch. Participants will communicate with a tight network of business, brand and product leaders via monthly Google video calls with regular updates and access to prototypes. This small group of early supporters provides the necessary transparency for success. The reward for being part of this program is receiving one of the first fifty bikes made with customized F50 details.
You’ll be charged $250 each month for the next 20 months, which will add up to a total of five thousand dollars. Once all twenty payments have been made, you will receive your bike in May 2025. When it’s released to the public, it will cost ten thousand dollars, so through Founders50 you’re saving fifty percent. As this is a crowdfunded campaign, please note that refunds are not available should you decide to back out.
F50 members will have an integral role in the product design process. Dust Moto is targeting a specific market need and has designed the Dust_Model 1 bike to meet this need: combining thoughtful design with EV technology to create a more lightweight dirt biking experience. Keeping the traditional performance elements of a dirt bike, the team removed any unnecessary features. The bike boasts premium brand suspensions, brakes and rider touch points, as well as optimized geometry for optimal performance and maneuverability. It is both strong enough to withstand a beating and simple enough to upgrade or customize. It suits both novice riders and experts alike, all while being designed and manufactured domestically.
If you didn’t make it in the first 50 customers or are not based in the US, there will be a new waiting list. Dust Moto will be launching a second crowdfunding effort for their next batch of 200 customers and will reserve a spot for you.

“We’re yet to see a true American dirt bike manufacturer and Dust Moto aims to tap into the appetite for supporting local brands and promoting American-made products. With their background in electric vehicle production and a commitment to the core moto rider, we think this could be a big win for the industry”, says Tucker Neary from Electric Cycle Rider.
Dust Moto Team
During their time working together on electric motorbikes at UBCO, the founding team discovered a big opportunity to create a buzz in the global dirt bike industry by fabricating avant-garde electric dirt bikes inspired by US moto culture. All of the members of this team are ingenious designers and engineers who share a passion for identifying challenges and comprehending what the end users require. They strongly believe in being transparent when it comes to their work.
As community leaders, Dust Moto values partnerships in all forms. The company is driven to involve riders and moto experts in the design process of Dust due to its deep-rooted design principles. Furthermore, they aspire to help others understand what it takes to build a brand from scratch while also taking advantage of their acquired knowledge and networks along the way.
