Imagine a 100% electric flat tracker motorcycle with a ‘less-is-more’ design. A bike that you can use in the city but also for some easy off road stuff during the weekend. For that purpose, Trevor Motorcycles from Belgium launches their new bike Trevor FTR Stella.
In spring 2018 two friends, artist Philippe Stella (Los Angeles) and motorcycle professional Jeroen-Vincent Nagels (Antwerp) were working on The Mighty Machines project in a small cottage in Cadaques, a beautiful small coastal village near Barcelona.
In between of the works they could use a vintage dirtbike to drive to the town for groceries and to play around in the sandy roads nearby. This gave them the idea that a modern and clean interpretation of such a bike would be the perfect toy for a place like that, but also to be the perfect alternative for the small wheeled kickscooters in big cities … an idea was born.
One year later during the launch of MM.01 at The Bike Shed Show in London, Stella pitched the idea to Torsten Robbens from Saroléa while watching a mini dirt track race… This brought the whole thing on to another level. Some experiments took place and the name Trevor was registered … in honour of JV’s favourite British sportscar.
“No emissions shouldn’t mean no fun – that’s why we build clean dirt bikes”
With the know-how from those testcases Rob from Saroléa brought in John McInnis (ex designer from Alta Motors) as the perfect guy for the design of the first full electric Trevor dirt tracker.
Early 2020 John’s design of the Trevor FTR was ready and the engineering by Saroléa was in full swing. The Trevor team grew in the meantime with Joop Wanten (Antwerp) from The Mighty Machines and another motorcycle professional Greg Hauret-Clos (Girona).
Alongside of the development of a few riding prototypes, a limited run Trevor FTR Founder Series were sold. Joop contacted Hedon to design a ‘Trevor X Hedon helmet’ to offer an exclusive gift to the first ambassadors that invested in their own Trevor. Meanwhile Greg started with the online pre sales…
Today, you can already pre-order your Trevor FTR Stella on their website. Starting September 2020 the Trevor team will start delivering their first sold bikes.
