What’s in the pipeline for Hero MotoCorp’s next wave of LEVs?
At EICMA 2025, Hero MotoCorp, best known as the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, used its VIDA electric brand to signal a decisive shift toward a cleaner and more connected future. The company unveiled an ambitious portfolio of next-generation LEVs (Light Electric Vehicles), new concepts for urban and off-road riding, and confirmed its European expansion with a production-ready e-scooter.
“Technology, sustainability and human ambition need to meet in the middle,” said Executive Chairman Dr. Pawan Munjal, framing Hero’s push toward electric mobility as a long-term, global strategy. With more than 125 million customers across 52 countries, Hero is now aiming to turn its scale into leverage for mass-market electrification.
A new direction: VIDA Novus electric mobility concepts
Hero pulled the covers off VIDA Novus, a new family of electric mobility solutions ranging from ultra-portable to fully enclosed EVs. These aren’t motorcycles in the traditional sense, they’re glimpses of how Hero imagines personal mobility beyond two wheels.
• NEX 1 – the portable EV companion
A compact, carry-friendly machine designed to move with you rather than simply move you. Think of it as Hero’s attempt at redefining last-mile mobility.

• NEX 2 – a self-balancing electric trike
Bridging the gap between scooters and lightweight motos, the NEX 2 offers motorcycle-like engagement with the added confidence of three-wheel stability, tailored squarely for tight, urban traffic.

• NEX 3 – an enclosed personal EV
A sleek, all-weather micro-vehicle aimed at riders who need year-round practicality with the small footprint of a two-wheeler. Suitable for both city streets and rural roads.

Together, the Novus lineup suggests Hero is exploring mobility as an ecosystem, not just building more electric motorcycles.
VIDA VX2: Hero’s first European market entry
The headline for European riders: VIDA is officially entering the EU with the VIDA VX2.
The urban e-scooter delivers:
- 125 km WMTC range
- 90 km/h top speed
- Twin removable IP67-rated batteries
- IP68 PMSM electric motor
With its removable dual-pack system and waterproof drivetrain, the VX2 positions itself as a practical commuter rather than a premium performance machine, a move clearly aimed at mainstream adoption.
Two electric motorcycle concepts: Ubex and Project VxZ
Hero also revealed two electric motorcycle concepts signaling what its future EV lineup might look like.
VIDA Concept Ubex – Modular urban explorer
A neo-naked electric motorcycle built on a modular platform, the Ubex blends everyday practicality with light adventure capability. Smart connectivity, ergonomic versatility, and all-terrain design cues make it Hero’s most globally relevant motorcycle concept to date.
VIDA Project VxZ – Co-developed with Zero Motorcycles
This is the big one. Developed with Zero Motorcycles USA, Project VxZ marks a significant collaboration between the world’s largest ICE manufacturer and one of the biggest names in electric performance.
While specs remain under wraps, the partnership suggests Hero wants a legitimate performance EV, one capable of competing well beyond emerging markets.
Key details of Project VxZ
- Design: The VxZ features a sporty, streetfighter-inspired design with a sharp headlamp, signature LED DRLs, a wide handlebar, and premium components like gold-finished inverted front forks and a mono-shock rear suspension.
- Powertrain: It is expected to be powered by a mid-mounted electric motor with a belt drive, and the battery housing is positioned where a conventional engine would typically be found.
- Purpose: The project aims to challenge conventions of electric performance and serves as the foundation for Vida’s next-generation electric motorcycle lineup.
- Status: The model showcased at EICMA 2025 appeared close to production, with more details anticipated in the future
Electric dirt: the VIDA DIRT.E Series
Hero’s off-road arm isn’t being left behind. Under VIDA, the company announced the DIRT.E Series, a lineup for young riders and off-road enthusiasts.
DIRT.E K3 – Electric moto for kids (4–10)
Adjustable in three sizes, the K3 grows with young riders and prioritizes safety and accessibility. It already secured a Red Dot Design Concept Award 2025, and Hero says it will launch in India and Europe soon.

DIRT.E MX7 Racing Concept – Lightweight electric off-road machine

Drawing on Hero’s Dakar Rally experience, the MX7 Concept targets riders looking for something nimble, powerful, and electric. While still a prototype, its emphasis on light weight and endurance hints at Hero’s ambition to electrify the off-road segment.
What this means for the global EV landscape
Hero MotoCorp’s presence in the EV space has often been slow and cautious. But at EICMA 2025, the company positioned itself as a serious EV contender, backed by:
- large-scale manufacturing power
- a growing R&D footprint in India and Germany
- partnerships with Zero Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson
- investments in Ather Energy and Euler Motors
From urban scooters to off-road concepts and fully enclosed micro-EVs, Hero is clearly aiming wide. For European riders, the big news is simple: VIDA is finally coming to Europe, and more electric motorcycles appear to be on the way.
