Yes, I know I have said that EMN is not going to publish concepts and Photoshop renders anymore. I know you want to see the real thing … but occasionally there will be exceptions, such as today. Zukun Plan is a close-knit studio of designers and engineers developing forward-thinking product design solutions for clients big and small. The design team at Zukun Plan has worked to create a near-future concept that imagines power tool company EGO venturing into electric motorsports.
For your information: this project was an in-house conceptual initiative developed to showcase Zukun Plan’s design skill and passion for the electric motorsport revolution. Zukun did not collaborate with EGO POWER+ and does not represent EGO POWER+. Zukun designed the Z56 dirt bike around the EGO POWER+ 56V 7.5Ah battery and its mating rapid charger as their specifications provided a good match for the desired performance and charge times.
EGO Z56 concept
Source: Zukun Plan | EGO Z56 is a children’s electric dirt bike that aims to disrupt the gas-dependent motorsports industry without sacrificing its characteristic power and freedom. The driving idea: design a dirt bike that looks and feels like the future of the sport while remaining absolutely relatable and recognizable to enthusiasts.
Current dirt bike design trends seem hell-bent on adding excessive styling lines and graphics, and many future-vision concepts alienate consumers by deviating so far from the norm that they sacrifice relatability. Zukun Plan worked to ensure neither was the result of this project. By blending classic motorsport style with sophisticated, modern lines and forms, Z56 points toward a cleaner, simpler, and more efficient future.
Designed around EGO’s existing 56 volt power source, Zukun Plan decided to highlight the battery as a central and iconic part of the design, rather than hide it. Z56 is proud to be electric—highlighting its electrical components and celebrating the move away from petroleum dependence and the internal combustion engine.
Z56 utilizes EGO’s 56V 7.5 Ah battery, offering equivalent power to a 50cc engine and is optimized for children ages 6-11 years. The maintenance-free 1000 watt DC brushless motor provides ample torque for instant acceleration and spirited riding. In addition to the phase-changing material used to shed heat in the battery pack itself, Z56 incorporates a small onboard fan that pulls warm air out of the battery housing, similar to that used in the EGO Rapid Charger. Outside air is pulled in the front air inlet, while warm air is expelled out the rear outlet, keeping the battery cool under heavy loads.
The 56V 7.5Ah lithium battery pack provides roughly one hour of riding. A depleted pack can be charged in about one hour. Utilizing two batteries, continuous all-day riding is possible. The lightweight lithium pack makes for a quicker, more agile, and easier-to-handle dirt bike.
No noise, no emissions, and no motor maintenance means more time and places to ride. Z56 creates countless new riding opportunities as it can be ridden in areas which would have been previously forbidden to gas-powered bikes due to pollution and noise. Additionally, the minimized weight and lack of oil and gas makes for more convenient ownership, transport, and rider experience.
The EGO Z56 is what Zukun Plan hopes the future looks like—fast, clean, sustainable, and always embracing the thrill of new possibilities.
