Source: press release e-bility GmbH | Kumpan | e-bility GmbH expands its core brand Kumpan with the innovative SCROOSER, a unique carving e-scooter. e-bility GmbH secures further growth capital for its core brand Kumpan electric and acquires Berlin-based SCROOSER GmbH with a financing round in the lower two-digit million range. The product ranges of the two innovative electric scooter manufacturers complement each other perfectly and offer many synergy and diversification opportunities. The Berlin location will be retained and expanded.
Kumpan electric is convinced that the acquisition of SCROOSER will give the company a decisive competitive advantage and further strengthen its position in the market, particularly in an eventful and rapidly growing industry such as electromobility. Common values such as sustainable, local production, a high degree of innovation and the possibility to adopt key components such as the new Kumpan battery in the next generation of the SCROOSER were arguments for the merger.
“Thanks to a differentiated brand positioning, SCROOSER offers us the opportunity to expand our product range and thus reach new target groups,” says Patrik Tykesson, CEO of e-bility GmbH.
The previous shareholders of SCROOSER, the Bonn-based investor duo Dr. Jörg Haas and Johannes Haas, were enthusiastic about the partnership. “With Kumpan electric, we have found an experienced partner who has extensive know-how in e-mobility and, like us, stands for high quality from Germany”, emphasizes Johannes Haas, Managing Director of SCROOSER.
The company’s rapid growth and current industry trends such as shared mobility demand in particular in- depth skills in the areas of software and IT. Dr. Jörg Haas has his entrepreneurial focus in the software sector and thus brings valuable know-how to e-bility GmbH: “I think it’s great what the three founders have put together over the last few years and I’m therefore happy to let my experience in software and AI flow into a young local company.“
e-bility GmbH will continue SCROOSER as an independent brand alongside Kumpan and maintain and expand Berlin as an additional location.
Currently there are about 15,000 Kumpane and SCROOSER on the international market. It should not remain that way, because the capital from the financing round, in which existing investors as well as the new shareholders have participated, will serve to further scale the business model. The focus will be on expanding sales channels, both in the B2B (sharing) and B2C segments. In addition, the strong internationalization course of the companies is to be driven forward jointly.
Northvolt-CEO and ex-Tesla-Manager Peter Carlsson, shareholder of e-bility GmbH, also sees great advantages: “I am pleased about this deal. Both companies share common values such as sustainable, local production, and strive for a high degree of innovation.“
