Source: press release RGNT | RGNT Motorcycles and HERE Technologies have collaborated to bring a 100% EV-focused route planning and navigation system to modern commuters.
Riders of electric motorbikes have special needs when it comes to route planning and navigation that are different from those of other vehicles. The new RGNT x HERE system has been designed to meet these specific requirements.
Thanks to the RGNT App on your smartphone, you can now plan your journey from wherever you are. The app takes into account not only the current battery status and the kind of road you’re traveling on, but also regeneration mode, speed limits, and elevation to calculate the maximum range achievable. The result is then shown in a 360-degree graphic known as ‘Isolines’, which gives riders peace of mind regarding their ability to reach their destination.
Starting today, every new RGNT motorcycle will come with the innovative and novel RGNT x HERE.
The isolines in the map provide information on how far a rider can go in each direction, taking into consideration different types of roads and related conditions. The orange outer line reflects the maximum range for a one-way trip, while the green inner line displays the maximum range for a round trip. By this, riders can determine if a certain destination is achievable or not without needing to worry about running out of charge. If needed, they can locate places to charge their vehicles before departure or find charging spots along their journey with the help of the navigation system.
Once a route is chosen, all it takes to send the course to the bike is pushing the SEND button. This transfers all the route data to the bike for turn-by-turn instructions on the instrument cluster automatically when the start button is engaged. It spares riders from having to fiddle around with navigation systems before each journey. Plus, riders can make changes – like adding destinations or charging stations – right on either the touchscreen dashboard or the app.
Starting today, every new RGNT motorcycle will come with the innovative and novel RGNT x HERE. For any previous models, a complimentary software update that can be downloaded wirelessly will make it available in the near future.
