Dorado Motorsports opens pre-orders for electric dirt bike with swappable 7.2 kWh battery
Dorado Motorsports, a San Francisco-based electric dirt bike startup, has opened pre-orders for its V3 model, a full-size off-road electric motorcycle built around a swappable battery pack. A $100 deposit reserves a unit, with an estimated purchase price of $10,499.
The company was founded by Erez Frank and Nick Kluger, who grew up riding gas dirt bikes in the Sierra Nevada. Frank, CEO, has a background in economics and data analysis. Kluger, CTO, has a mechanical and engineering background dating back to childhood, with experience in professional workshop settings.

The V3 is powered by a 36 kW (48 hp) motor running at 81V, paired with a 7.2 kWh swappable battery. Dorado states the bike delivers over 70 trail miles of range and a top speed of 80 mph. Charging time is listed at two hours on a 220V outlet.
Suspension comes from KYB, with 12.2 inches of travel up front and 12.5 inches at the rear. Brakes are hydraulic discs, 270mm at the front and 240mm at the rear. The bike runs an 80/100-21 front tire and a 120/90-18 rear tire.
Other dimensions: seat height of 37.2 inches, wheelbase of 58.6 inches, 27.2 degrees of rake, 4.6 inches of trail, and 14.1 inches of ground clearance. Claimed weight ranges from 230 to 260 lbs.

Dorado markets the V3 as the first full-size electric dirt bike with a swappable battery and unlimited range through pack swaps. The company has not yet published a delivery timeline for pre-order units.
