Electric motorcycles now permitted in ACU Enduro competition
Source: press release ACU | The Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) has confirmed that electric motorcycles are now eligible to compete in ACU Enduro events, following an extended assessment process by the ACU Enduro Commission. Entry will be subject to specific safety requirements and technical guidance still being finalised.

The decision follows discussions between the Commission and the ACU’s insurers, according to Enduro Commission Vice Chairman Andy Waters, who said the organisation had worked to “found a way to bring electric motorcycles into enduro,” and that the ACU intends to keep developing the framework alongside event organisers so riders can compete on electric machines going forward.
Organisers planning to include electric entries at their events can find detailed guidance published on the Sport80 platform.
The Auto-Cycle Union is the national governing body for motorcycle sport in Great Britain, covering disciplines including enduro, motocross, trials, road racing, speedway and track racing. Founded in 1903 as the Auto-Cycle Club, it took its current name in 1907 and was a founding member of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) in 1904. Based in Rugby, Warwickshire, the ACU issues competition licences, sets technical and safety standards, and permits several thousand events each year through its network of affiliated clubs across the country, ranging from grassroots club racing to championship series and international fixtures such as the Isle of Man TT.
