Yatri Motorcycles launches P2 electric motor scooter in Nepal
Nepali manufacturer Yatri Motorcycles has introduced the P2, a new electric scooter designed and built domestically for the country’s roads and climbing conditions.
Powertrain and range
The P2 uses a high-power mid-drive PMSM motor rated at 10 kW peak, producing 315 Nm of torque at the wheel. Top speed is listed at 90 km/h. Power runs through a 7.12 final drive ratio via a high-efficiency chain, controlled by a power-dense 680A three-phase AC controller with active cooling intended to sustain continuous hill climbing.
Range is rated at up to 207 km with a range extender fitted. Yatri quotes DC fast charging to 80 percent in 41 minutes, and backs the battery with an 8-year or 80,000 km warranty.
Charging infrastructure
Yatri is pairing the P2 with its own DC charging network, using what it calls a Plug-and-Charge protocol: the charger’s CMS and the scooter’s VCU handle authentication and session management automatically. The companion app shows real-time charger data, including live availability, distance, and estimated travel time to nearby stations.
Connectivity and instrumentation
The P2 is fitted with a 7-inch programmable LED TFT instrument cluster. Listed connected features include wireless CarPlay, connected media, ride intelligence, tyre pressure monitoring, and a smart charger finder. A companion app tracks live vehicle data, battery status, and range remotely.
Safety systems
Yatri lists several electronic safety features on the P2: fall detection that cuts power to the drivetrain in the event of a crash, an emergency response function that shares the rider’s location with emergency contacts, remote immobilization, and movement tracking to flag unexpected relocation of the vehicle. Lighting includes Class-D headlamps and a smart tail light.
Availability
The P2 is available to book now in Nepal, with test rides offered through Yatri’s dealer network. Yatri Motorcycles is based in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.
