Guy Salens – THE PACK: “I’ve been following Electric Superbike Twente since 2017 as part of THE PACK community, and it was great to finally meet them in person at the Brussels Auto Show. The students from University of Twente proudly revealed their latest electric superbike (5th generation!) with a unique feature – a swappable battery. After several online publications about their progress over the years, it was exciting to see this new bike up close and learn more about their innovative design.”
Each year, a new team of students with fresh ideas takes over the mission of Electric Superbike Twente: to create and construct a fully electric motorcycle from the ground up. This student racing team is dedicated to showcasing the possibilities and enjoyment of sustainable mobility!
A group of students has developed this latest electric superbike, aiming to overcome one of the main challenges in electric motor racing: range. This impressive motorcycle, named the Vector ST, is their fifth generation model and showcases a revolutionary technology that could potentially revolutionize the world of electric motor sports.
The latest model of motorcycle boasts a modular battery pack, making it the first electric superbike to have such a feature. This not only increases its range, but also adds a new level of strategy to racing. However, the bike is not just known for its battery swapping technology; it also has an electromotor that can generate 160 kW of mechanical power and reach impressive top speeds of over 300 km/h.
“The upcoming year promises to bring many thrilling races for our superbike team as we compete in the International Dutch Championship. Our biggest rival will be the Finnish team, JKC Ukkanen. Both teams will push themselves to their limits during the race at the Imatra circuit in Finland.”, says Dirk Serlie, Communications Manager at Electric Superbike Twente.
