Source: Ride to COP28 | COP28 is the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will take place in November 2023 at Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is a global agreement bringing all world countries together to take bold, practical and ambitious solutions to fight against climate change as an existential crisis.

The Ride to COP28 initiative seeks to increase awareness of climate change and promote sustainable practices. The journey from Ali Abdo on an electric motorcycle (EVA EsseEsse9 – Energica) will commence from Riyadh, passing through Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman before concluding in the UAE, where the UNFCCC 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) will occur.

The main objective of this journey is to engage with young people by visiting universities and sports clubs to educate them about climate change and inspire them to take action towards a more sustainable future. The Ride to COP28 also aims to establish a new Guinness World Record for visiting the most countries on an electric motorcycle, to generate more media coverage and reach a broader audience to impact communities and contribute towards a more sustainable future positively.

The Ride to COP27

As Ali Abdo and his team prepare to hit the road in just a few days, We would like to share with you the main 10 activities they have planned for their visit to each of the 8 countries on their journey through Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates to participate in COP28 and COY18 .

  5. Startup Success Stories: Highlighting 24 startups dedicated to environmental sustainability showcases the role of innovation in addressing climate challenges and the potential for green business solutions.
  6. Innovative Climate Solutions: Featuring 24 groundbreaking climate ideas emphasizes the importance of creativity and technology in finding effective solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
  7. Pitching Competitions: Hosting pitching competitions encourages the development of climate-focused innovations and provides a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their climate solutions.
  8. Policy and Decision-Maker Dialogues: Engaging policymakers and decision-makers in climate discussions underscores the need for political commitment and collaboration in enacting policies that promote sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  9. Guinness World Records: Setting a new Guinness World Record draws attention to the urgency of climate action, inspiring individuals and organizations worldwide to strive for ambitious environmental goals.

About Ali Abdo

He holds five world records on motorcycles as an environmental activist and sustainability ambassador. He uses his unique approach to connect people with development efforts and in initiatives to raise awareness and accelerate the sustainable development process in the MEA region.

Ali is the first Arab to achieve a world record on a motorcycle, the First Arab to achieve a world record on an electric vehicle, and the person who holds the most number of world records on electric vehicles.
