At the EICMA in Milan, Brekr introduced its newest electric motorcycle concept, the Brekr B7000. This lightweight motorbike is designed for the A1 category and intended for commuting to and from work in urban areas. It is expected to be available from the second quarter of 2024 with a price tag of 7,799 euros.
The B7000 is a major upgrade from the B4000. The lightweight motorcycle was based on the moped, but underwent changes to make it suitable for motorized use. For instance, the two batteries are wired in parallel for increased power output. The new, linked braking system ensures even distribution of the brake force and increases stability and safety. A new suspension setup has been installed at the rear, which enables higher speeds. Moreover, numerous small upgrades have been made, from a different license plate holder to updated software.
Customers and dealers were asking for a faster version of the moped
Many European countries allow individuals with a standard driver’s license to easily obtain a license for a light motorcycle in the A1 class. These motorcycles have a maximum engine displacement of 125 cc or 11 kW of electric power. Brekr dealers have expressed interest in adding a faster variant of their current moped (B4000) to Brekr’s line-up.
Consumers were asking the same question. Many cities are encouraging the use of motorcycles. You can get to your destination faster, parking is easier and a bike has lower monthly costs than a car. “I understand it” says Niels Willems, co-founder of Brekr and Commercial Director, “Why not ride a little faster on a Brekr if you have the right license anyway?”
The customer reviews for Brekr on Trustpilot (4.9 out of 5, 200+ reviews) show that Brekr riders highly value the riding properties of their vehicles. With the B7000 they get an even bigger kick. Weighing only 91 kg and boasting higher power, acceleration and top speed increase. Brekr promises a max speed of 70+ km/h, which is comparable to most lightweight scooters and perfect for urban environments. “We want our drivers to be able to go above 70 km/h and beyond 70 km in range,” says Jasper Hagedoorn, co-founder and CTO. “In practice the range depends on many factors but with 4.1 kWh onboard it’s a very realistic range, not an ‘ideal conditions’ range’. Customers can also charge in between at work giving them the ability to travel substantial distances daily.”
Technical specifications of Brekr B7000:
- Battery capacity of 4.1 kWh, offering a real-world range of 60 to 100 km
- Maximum power output of 7000 W
- Suitable for two people with a total max weight of 160 kg
- Cascaded braking system
- Estimated price: 7799 euro
- Expected availability: second quarter 2024.
Brekr now offers a comprehensive range for electric urban mobility with the arrival of the B7000. The light motorbike (70+ km/hr) alongside the moped (45 km/hr) and e-bike (25 km/hr) complete the range.
