Droog Moto and Onyx team up for the UNIT-1 custom electric build

Custom motorcycle builder Droog Moto has unveiled UNIT-1, a heavily reworked version of the Onyx RCR built in collaboration with Onyx itself. The project strips the RCR down to its chassis and rebuilds it as a one-off machine rather than a modified production bike.

A ground-up rework

Droog Moto replaced most of the RCR’s visible and functional components. The bodywork is entirely custom, including new side panels and an upper tank cover, alongside a redesigned subframe and a one-off seat. The bike also gets new lighting, lower tracker-style handlebars, and wider enduro tires in place of the stock setup.

One of the more significant mechanical changes is the drivetrain: Droog Moto removed the chain and sprocket system in favor of custom-built adjustable rear sets, shifting the RCR toward the drive feel of an e-moto rather than a traditional motorcycle.

Max and Erica Droog: “We pushed the RCR platform harder, stripping away the expected and replacing it with something unmistakably Droog. Custom bodywork, a reworked subframe, bespoke seat, new lighting, aggressive handlebars, and custom rear sets completely reshape the bike. Beefy enduro tires give it the stance and attitude to match. Raw and aggressive like our Fighters, Unit-1 is the first RCR of its kind.”

Design direction

Where many electric motorcycle builds try to mask their powertrain, UNIT-1 does the opposite. The design leaves mechanical elements exposed and leans into minimal bodywork and oversized proportions, drawing visual references from military hardware and industrial equipment. Droog Moto describes the result as a more aggressive take on the RCR platform than the standard production version.
