Source: official press release Brekr | EcoMotion, the owner of QWIC and AGU, is proud to announce its acquisition of Brekr, the Dutch brand renowned for its distinctive electric two-wheelers featuring a unique design and deep regional connections.

EcoMotion is committed to Brekr’s vision and products, aiming to preserve its innovative strength and create new growth opportunities through the restart. “Brekr has quickly established a strong position with products distinguished by their design, functionality, and local character,” stated Marc van der Plas, CEO of EcoMotion. “We recognize significant synergy benefits in both product development and distribution. This acquisition adds another distinctive brand to our portfolio.”

Over the upcoming two weeks, EcoMotion plans to familiarize itself with staff, dealers, and suppliers to facilitate a seamless restart for Brekr drivers. Customers can rest assured that services and deliveries will proceed without interruption, maintaining the quality they have come to expect from Brekr.

Brekr’s founders, Niels Willems and Jasper Hagedoorn, have regretfully filed for bankruptcy following a challenging time marked by supply issues and the adverse effects of the fatbike debate, despite ongoing admiration for their products. Fortunately, Brekr is embarking on a new chapter under EcoMotion, with Willems and Hagedoorn staying on to maintain continuity. They are thankful that Brekr will persist under new ownership that aligns with their vision of sustainable mobility and design, and they are eager to move forward alongside customers, employees, and partners.
