My first post at THE PACK “Electric Motorcycle News” about Electric Motion was in February 2017 about their E-Trek offroad model. Now, 5 years later, the French electric motorcycle manufacturer (in Vendargues) has succeeded to become the most major player in the electric motortrial scene. Electric Motion is also the first electric motorcycle brand to survive the Scottish conditions in the Scottish Six Days Trials 2022. The team with Electric Motion riders Matthew Alpe (UK importer at Inch Perfect Trials) & current e-trial World Champion, Gaël Chatagno, have proven to be competitive with traditional internal combustion motorbikes.
2022 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship
Source: FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) “With electric cars now a common sight on roads worldwide and even a Formula E series for four-wheeled racing fans, competitive electric motorcycles are equally inevitable and the FIM has recognised this fact by scrapping the TrialE class and instead allowed electric machines to compete head-to-head with conventional combustion-engined bikes. For 2022 EM is fielding Gael Chatagno in Trial2 and Margaux Pena in Trial2 Women. Gael, who won the TrialE title last season, impressed everyone earlier this month when he rode to a top-20 finish on his E-Pure model in the legendary Scottish Six Day Trial and clearly demonstrated that in the right hands electricity works equally as well as petrol in even the toughest events.”
New 2023 EM range
One of the major features of the 2023 EM range is the Anti-Reverse (available on all EM models). This innovation allows to block the rear wheel in extreme conditions for more safety; it will avoid going backwards by activating the PRB (Progressive Regenerative Brake).
