Thanks to the PR firm WRider and Zero Motorcycles Europe, THE PACK is among the first in Europe to try out the Zero XE. The Skills track in Ingelmunster, home to the Enduro Fun Bikers (EFB), is the place to visit. Today’s test rider is Ziggy, an enduro instructor with EFB, an organization established by Frank Priem.

“All Access” Strategic Plan
In November of last year, during the EICMA event, Zero Motorcycles unveiled their “All Access” Strategic Plan aimed at leading the next wave of transformation in two-wheeled transportation. Their objective is to broaden the availability of their electric motorcycles to a wider global audience. Over the coming years, they plan to introduce six new models across different vehicle categories, each priced under €10,000, thereby making them much more accessible to riders everywhere. Now, Zero Motorcycles has introduced the new Zero XB and Zero XE offroad models.

Zero XE
The Zero XE is a fully developed new model that complies with Europe’s A1 tiered licensing requirements, and it will include lights, mirrors, and all necessary features for road legality. In the United States, however, the XE will be designated for off-road use only.

This brand-new frame contains a 4.3 kWh battery that can be easily exchanged with another. This battery charges from 0-95% in just 5.0 hours with a standard outlet. The permanent magnet motor delivers 635 Nm of torque and reaches a peak power of 21 hp (15.5 kW). It can achieve a top speed of 85 km/h, and its range is estimated at 100 km when traveling at 50 km/h.

The XE is equipped with three ride modes — Sport, Standard, and Eco — alongside switchable traction control, hill hold, a tip-over sensor, and adjustable regeneration. The bike’s data is presented on a 2.4-inch TFT screen which, despite its compact size, effectively displays a wealth of information.

The setup prominently features 21-inch front wheels and 18-inch rear wheels. Zero made a smart decision by avoiding the typical 19-inch front wheel often used in this light e-offroad category, leading to a bike that handles rough terrain more effectively.

The bike features a 240 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear, each paired with two-piston calipers. It boasts fully adjustable suspension on both ends, offering 215 mm of travel at the front and 248 mm at the back. Overall, the XE weighs in at 101 kg and has a seat height of 900 mm.

Ziggy’s test
“On the highly technical EFB Skills track, I got the chance to test ride the new XE from Zero. Right from the initial twist of the throttle, the Zero XE felt remarkably solid. It didn’t rattle, and there were no unsettling sounds. I only used the standard mode, which was sufficiently powerful for this terrain. The XE accelerated smoothly, and the throttle response was excellent on these trails and obstacles. While full power is available in sport mode, the standard mode was adequate for today’s ride.”

“I really appreciated its design and finishing touches: cables do not hang loose but are neatly brought together, and the brake levers are strong, not like those on mountain bikes. The KKE suspension performs adequately, but it won’t suffice for full-throttle rides on an MX track (not the usual environment for the XE, I know …). But, for enduro riding on easy to moderately difficult trails, this XE model is ideal for starting and average riders, particularly at the price of €6,510 in Belgium.“

“If I needed to make some personal modifications, I would install a higher steering bar, replace the stock tires for better control and traction, and add a pair of new footpegs with enhanced grip.“

Guy Salens – THE PACK: “The 2025 Zero XE represents a notable comeback to Zero’s roots, focusing on genuine mid-weight, trail-ready electric dirt bikes. This segment is ideal for those seeking a ride that is agile yet robust—light but effective. While it’s not exactly a hard-enduro model, it promises plenty of excitement at an intriguing price point.”

Delivery updates and price incentives for XB and XE customers
Source: press release Zero Motorcycles | To better serve its riders, Zero is offering U.S. customers and dealers the chance to lock in the current prices for the XB ($4,195) and XE ($6,495) models. This original pricing will also be honored for those with existing reservations. Deliveries of these existing reservations to the U.S. will start in Summer 2025 as scheduled, while new reservations made from May 1, 2025, will have an estimated delivery in Fall 2025.

U.S. customers who reserve between May 1 and May 18, 2025, can secure the current prices for their orders. Reservations made after May 18 will be subject to updated prices that account for added import fees.
Customers in Canada, Europe, and other regions, who are less affected by global trade dynamics, will not experience changes in pricing or delivery schedules.

“Zero Motorcycles remains committed in our mission to deliver industry-leading electric motorcycles while maintaining an accessible price point for consumers around the world,” said Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. And by honoring prices for early reservation holders – despite the shifting global economy – we’re reinforcing our position as the leader in the electric space and building the future of two-wheel transportation.”
