The Schwalbe L3e has a new heartbeat

November 19, 2017 January 10, 2023Guy SalensElectric mopeds, NewsGovecs, Schwalbe

The world premiere of the new Schwalbe L3e as a lightweight motorcycle with a top speed of 90 km/h took place on 12 November 2017 at the EICMA Motorcycle Fair in Milan.

Visually, the model hasn’t changed. The yellow color has been replaced by a black and red design. Wheels and rims are just as chic as before, the luggage rack still shines and the LED headlight is in the right place. But down below a lot has happened.

The engine power has been doubled to 8 kW. This allows The Schwalbe L3e to accelerate even better and reach a top speed of 90 km/h. The rear wheel is driven by the specially developed GOVECS double belt drive. This has not just one, but two consecutive running drive belts. Not only do they ensure better power transmission, they also make the entire drive particularly low-maintenance.

The maximum driving pleasure is guaranteed by three well-known driving modes GO, CRUISE and BOOST, with which you can now also determine the maximum top speed. You can either travel very far, cruising in a relaxed atmosphere or get away with a boost.

This model has two lithium-ion batteries on board with a battery capacity of 4.8 kWh for a range of up to 90 km. These are charged via a charger under the seat. To recharge the batteries, a normal household socket will do the trick. If you’re in a hurry, just switch to fast-charge mode, and you get from 0 to 50% of battery power in less than two hours.

The disc brakes are equipped with a combined braking system. This means that your braking power is split on the front and rear wheels and your even better comes to a halt. If you want to play it safe, you can equip yourself with the optional ABS system.

Just like the ABS, the powerful drive motor, the batteries and the super-sharp LCD display are developed at Bosch. Made in Europe and manufactured in Wroclaw, Poland.

Available in the summer of 2018!
