Despite losing a bit of his lead on the second lap, Gaël Chatagno (Electric Motion) still managed to secure an impressive second victory for electric-powered machines in this season’s Trial2 category.
Chatagno reflected on his unexpected win, stating: “What a crazy, crazy day and an unexpected result. I’ve been struggling to make it onto the podium since Japan, but today I just focused on enjoying the ride and it paid off with a win. It’s an honor to compete against such talented riders and top-performing ICE motorbikes, and finishing 6th overall is something I’m very proud of as the first electric bike.”
In addition to Chatagno’s success, Margaux Pena (Electric Motion) is also making strides towards the podium with her new Epure Factor-e. As the only rider using an electric motorcycle, Pena finished in 8th place in the Trial2 Women category in the overall ranking.
GASGAS
Sondre Haga (via Instagram): “My performance in Ripoll was not what I had hoped for; I didn’t make it to the podium on Saturday, and dropped from 5th to 7th place in the Championship. But that’s just how racing goes sometimes. Despite this setback, there are many amazing things to take away from this season. It was my first season on the prototype electric GasGas TXE, and I truly loved every moment of it! This experience has given me even more motivation to push myself even harder in the next season.”
Now that the 2024 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship has concluded, all eyes turn to the upcoming FIM Trial des Nations in Pobladura de las Regueras, Spain this weekend (21-22 September).
