Source: press release Zero Motorcycles | The futuristically styled FXE is the result of a collaboration with the award-winning San Francisco-based design firm HUGE Design on what was initially a concept vehicle. Taking cues from consumer electronics industrial design, the FXE emphasizes ergonomic touchpoints and rider UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) as much as the overall distinctive body styling of the FXE. The result is a model as breathtaking in aesthetics as it is exhilarating with its cutting edge performance.

As well as its cutting edge styling, the FXE also packs considerable technology its lightweight, 135kg, package. Powered by the passively air-cooled, high efficiency, IPM (interior permanent magnet), brushless Z-Force 75-5® motor, the FXE produces 46bhp and 106Nm of torque, making it eligible to be ridden on an A2 category motorcycle licence.

Powering the vehicle is a 7.2 kWh Li-Ion integrated battery power pack, which is capable of 100 miles of city riding. Charging is carried out simply through an onboard charger, which connects to a domestic three-pin plug socket, with no specialist equipment required.

Suspension is provided by Showa, while J.Juan brakes are complemented by Bosch’s ABS system. Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres provide excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions, while a 836mm seat height provides a commanding view of the road ahead – although the saddle itself is narrow to help accommodate riders of varying shapes and sizes.

The FXE also boasts custom LED head and tail lights as well as a 5” full colour, optically bonded TFT display. The new machine is controlled by the proprietary Cypher II Operating System which is ultimately responsible for the transformational riding experience of the motorcycle. The Cypher II OS also enables Bluetooth connectivity that provides additional rider controls via the Zero Motorcycles App. The smartphone application allows for customisation of torque, top speed and other performance characteristics via the on-board ride modes, battery management characteristics, Long Term Storage Mode, and much more. The end result is a product that delivers the peak of electric motorcycle technology with a riding experience that has no equal. In spite of the impressive combination of design and technology, the FXE is one of the most affordable models in the Zero range. The motorcycle of tomorrow, available today.
