Nerva launches Spark, built on removable BYD Blade LFP batteries

Nerva has introduced ‘Spark’, a light electric vehicle available in two type-approval classes and built around BYD’s Blade LFP battery technology in a removable format. NERVA offers an accessible alternative for making the leap to electric mobility. Lower energy costs and reduced maintenance needs allow savings from the very first kilometre.

Two type-approvals, one platform

The Spark shares a single platform across both versions. The L1e, accessible with an AM licence, tops out at 45 km/h with an estimated range of up to 80 km, drawing 1.8 kW rated power and 3.6 kW peak. The L3e, equivalent to a 125cc combustion machine, reaches 95 km/h on 5 kW rated power and 7.6 kW peak.

The L3e offers three riding modes: Eco, capped at 50 km/h with up to 100 km of range; Normal, up to 70 km/h and 75 km; and Sport, up to 95 km/h and 60 km. Both versions include colour digital instrumentation showing speed, range and charge status.

Connectivity

The Spark ships with the Nerva City app (iOS and Android) and an included SIM card, with connectivity free for the first year. The app allows remote status monitoring, location tracking, remote locking when parked, configuration of throttle-release and braking regeneration, OTA updates, and toggling of the Hill Holder assist system.

Battery: BYD Blade LFP, removable

Both versions use BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, a chemistry chosen for thermal stability and the absence of nickel and cobalt in the cathode. The L3e runs a 3.496 kWh pack (76.8 V, 46 Ah); the L1e a 2.06 kWh pack (44.8 V, 46 Ah). Both packs are removable and can be charged from a standard Schuko socket, or via an included Type 2 cable compatible with public charging infrastructure.

Charge times for the L3e are approximately 2h50 to 80% and 3h30 to full. The L1e charges to 80% in 1h35 and to full in 2 hours. The battery pack also includes an external balancing connector, giving technicians individual access to cell groups for diagnostics and maintenance without disassembling the pack.

Build

The Spark uses a central motor with belt drive and reduction gear, dropping the maintenance associated with a chain. Equipment includes double LED headlights behind a steel grille, front and rear disc brakes with red callipers, an integrated luggage rack with optional top box mount, and a matte black finish.

Nerva states the 6,000-cycle figure is an indicative reference based on suitable use, charging and temperature conditions, retaining an estimated 80–85% of original capacity; actual degradation will depend on real-world usage patterns. Specifications are subject to change and should be confirmed with an authorised Nerva dealer.
