Lip-Bu Tan, Yali Capital & TDK Ventures invest in Ultraviolette
B2B News | Ultraviolette welcomes Lip-Bu Tan (Chairman of Walden International), Yali Capital & TDK Ventures as investors in a $85 million funding round.
Ultraviolette is especially pleased that Lip-Bu Tan will also join the Indian electric motorcycle brand as an advisor. His belief in the engineering and technology they’ve built from first principles is a meaningful endorsement of their long-term vision.

This investment will help Ultraviolette scale production of the F77 and X-47 Crossover, bring the Tesseract and Shockwave to market, and develop the next generation of global EV platforms.
Narayan Subramaniam – CEO Ultraviolette (via LinkedIn): “We first met Lip-Bu in 2019 when we still pre-revenue. All we had then was prototypes in various stages of development on both battery pack architectures and pre-production motorcycles. Lip-bu was highly encouraging of our approach of vertical integration and first principles thinking. Having someone of Lip-Bu’s experience, conviction and global perspective believe in that vision means a lot to us.”
Today, Ultraviolette retails across India and 20 countries in Europe. In 2027, Ultraviolette plans to enter the US and expand further across Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Ultraviolette: “We’re grateful for the confidence our investors have placed in our team and our vision to build a global electric mobility brand from India.”
Niraj Rajmohan – CTO Ultraviolette (via LinkedIn): “Some journeys have a way of coming back around. We first met Lip-Bu Tan in 2019, when Ultraviolette Automotive was still a very young company with an outsized ambition to prove that world-class technology, design and performance could be built in India and taken to the world.
Seven years later, our paths have come together again. We are incredibly excited to welcome Lip-Bu, Chairman of Walden International, alongside Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, as investors in Ultraviolette’s $85 million funding round and to have Lip-Bu join us as an investor and advisor on the journey ahead.
For us, this one is particularly special. From a small team in 2016 with what seemed like an unreasonable belief, to building motorcycles and technology platforms that are now reaching the world, the journey has been anything but linear. And yet, in many ways, we feel like we are only at the beginning.
We are building far more than electric vehicles. We are building deep technology, vertically integrated systems and a platform for high-performance mobility – born in India, built for the world.”
