Exciting news for electric motorcycle fans in the Netherlands: starting July 1, 2025, the Dutch government will introduce a fixed BPM tax rate of just €200 for electric motorcycles. The impact? A significant price drop across the full range of Zero Motorcycles — and a big step forward for fairer, greener mobility.

Until now, Dutch riders had to swallow a tough pill: while electric cars benefitted from a flat BPM of €667 since the beginning of the year, electric motorcycles were slapped with a 19.4% tax on the list price. The result was an unfair and costly price gap — discouraging to anyone thinking of switching to two-wheeled electric transport.
But that changes on July 1
The Ministry of Finance made it official in the Dutch Staatscourant on June 24, stating that the tax authority would now apply the same principle to zero-emission motorcycles — just €200 flat, no percentage-based surprises. The earlier tax setup was acknowledged as ‘difficult to justify,’ especially in light of sustainability goals.
Big drops across the Zero line-up

For Zero Motorcycles**, this means immediate savings for Dutch customers. The price of the new Zero XE drops to €6,710, a reduction of €635. And it gets even better at the high end: the adventure-ready Zero DSR/X is now €3,425 cheaper, bringing its starting price down to €24,095 (from €27,520).

“We’re obviously thrilled with this decision,” says Rein Middelburg, Country Manager Benelux & Scandinavia at Zero Motorcycles. “The previous system was just unfair. With the flat €200 BPM, electric motorcycling becomes far more attractive in the Netherlands again.”
Already bought one this year? You’re in luck
Here’s a smart move by the Dutch government: if you bought a Zero between January 1 and June 30, 2025, you’re entitled to a refund of the difference between what you paid in BPM and the new €200 rate. So even early adopters aren’t left behind.
More savings: Go Electric discounts still active
On top of the BPM cut, Zero’s Go Electric promotions are still live, with discounts of up to €6,000 on previous model years. That means the stylish Zero SR/S (MY2024) doesn’t cost €27,395 anymore — it’s now available for just €19,990 with all incentives combined.

With fairer taxation, serious savings, and cleaner riding, this is a strong signal that electric two-wheelers are finally getting the policy support they deserve in the Netherlands.
