Italian startup Positive Motorcycles is opening the door to investors
B2B News | There is a certain kind of Italian determination that produces great motorcycles. It is the same stubbornness that kept small workshops alive in Emilia-Romagna for decades, the conviction that a machine built with care and craft will always find its rider. Timoteo Maffei, founder of Positive Motorcycles, carries that tradition with him from his home on the shores of Lake Como, and he is channelling it into something entirely new.
The company’s debut model is the EGERA, a premium electric motorcycle developed in-house from the ground up. With a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor producing 30 kW (42 hp) and 85 Nm of torque, a 7.7 kWh battery, and a lightweight 150 kg frame clothed in ABS and carbon fibre, the EGERA is designed to be both city-agile and emotionally satisfying, qualities that have often been in short supply in the electric two-wheeler segment. The design IP is registered across 27 European countries and India.
Maffei is not a first-time dreamer. His background spans biomedical and automotive industries across Switzerland, Europe and the US, and he has form in motorsport: he contributed to MotoGP Moto2 development projects in 2010 and 2015. Alongside designer Giovanni Rigolli, whose CV includes Benelli, Beta Motor, and Tamburini, the team brings genuine industry depth to what might otherwise read as an ambitious garage project. Over 2,000 kilometers of real-world testing back that up.
Now, Positive Motorcycles is opening the door to investors. The Como-based startup, legally structured as Futura 25 srl, is raising €2 million in a pre-seed equity round, targeting a market launch in 2027. The pitch is well-timed: more than 320 Low Emission Zones are active across EU cities, and 70% of motorcycles on European roads are over 20 years old, a vast, ageing fleet ripe for electrification in a market growing at over 20% annually.
The round is open to business angels, family offices, institutional investors, and strategic partners with automotive or mobility backgrounds. The team is targeting an M&A or IPO exit within five to seven years, with potential acquirers drawn from major European and Asian motorcycle and automotive groups. Positive Motorcycles is proving that ‘Made in Italy‘ still means something to riders, and that a small team with the right obsession can build something worth owning. Lake Como has inspired dreamers for centuries. This one is asking you to come along for the ride.
