Flemish riders frequently appear on the honor rolls of the Motocross World Championship and the MX of Nations, the international competition for national teams. This is not by chance, as Belgium has long had a strong presence in this beloved sport. But how does one get started in motocross? To address this question, Motorsport Vlaanderen, Sport Vlaanderen, Flemish circuit owners, and Motorsport Future created a straightforward solution: MX for Kids.

MX for Kids offers children between the ages of 6 and 12 an exciting introduction to this amazing sport in a fun, secure, and budget-friendly manner. This program is tailored specifically for young riders without prior motorcycling experience. Motorsport Vlaanderen supplies the motorcycle, track, and necessary gear. Through MX for Kids, you’ll learn the fundamentals of the sport with guidance from seasoned trainers. From being a complete novice, you’ll gain the skills to handle the motorcycle in any situation. You can collect badges, and before long, you’ll be prepared for your first race!
Ziggy, our test rider from THE PACK, is a dedicated offroad instructor at Enduro Fun Bikers (EFB). Recently, he put the new Zero XE through its paces for us at The Skills track in Ingelmunster, which is also on the MX for Kids 2025 calendar.

The KTM 65 SX is a complete sports machine designed for young pilots aged 8 to 12 years, with a maximum height of about 1.60 meters. Featuring a WP AER 35 fork, striking graphics, and top-notch components, this model sets the benchmark in its category for power, maneuverability, features, and construction quality.
Trainers bike: KTM Freeride E-XC (Electric)

The new E-XC can be seen as a comprehensive upgrade of the previous Freeride E, with the added convenience that its battery pack is compatible with the older model. Notably, the motor now delivers greater power, reaching nearly 25 hp peak power and 42 Nm, while the battery life has also doubled. Additionally, there have been significant modifications to the chassis.
MX for Kids Ambassadors

Our “Ambassadors,” though still quite young, have already achieved remarkable success! Jago Geerts, a former youth world champion in motocross, and Liam Everts, a top talent, are the leading representatives of MX for Kids. Both of these young motorsport athletes rank among the world’s best in their field and are eager to support MX for Kids.
Speed, technique, physical prowess, and bravery are essential qualities for any motocross rider, and 24-year-old Jago Geerts is well aware of this. This season, the dedicated Yamaha factory rider is vying for the world championship. Both Geerts and Liam Everts have motorsports in their blood, with Geerts’ father, Herman, having worked as a mechanic for top riders. Geerts hails from Balen, a town passionate about motocross and home to the prestigious International Keiheuvel competition.
With a father and grandfather who were world champions, it was almost inevitable that 20-year-old Liam Everts would follow in their footsteps onto a motorcycle. The Everts name is synonymous with motocross, not just in Flanders, but far beyond. “For me, starting to race felt completely natural,” Liam explains. “Once you’re at the starting gate, it doesn’t matter what your name is or who your father is. Everyone is there to win!”
Liam Everts

“I’ve been deeply involved in motocross for several years, both intensely and professionally. It’s essential if you aim to be the best! However, you don’t need to be overly dedicated to simply enjoy the sport. Back in primary school, I realized many kids had no clue what our sport was about. That’s why it’s fantastic that MX for kids is now available! Anyone can give it a shot. Starting with motocross isn’t as daunting as it appears. For instance, electric KTM motocross bikes are incredibly easy to handle, and the trainers provide clear instructions. You’ll be up and running in no time… and soon enough, you’ll be hooked,” Liamski chuckles.
Jago Geerts

“Sure, there’s a lot more on the line now compared to when I first began racing, but the joy of riding is still incredibly important to me. The thrill of controlling the bike, soaring through the air, or passing another rider remains unique even after all these years. I keep fit by engaging in other sports, but none offer the same excitement or fulfillment as motocross. It’s fantastic that more kids can now experience our sport through MX for Kids!”
