Zero Motorcycles donates 2 Zero XE electric off-roaders to Dutch Veterans Search Team

Zero Motorcycles has donated two Zero XE electric motorcycles to the Veteranen Search Team (VST), a Dutch volunteer organisation that supports police services during urgent missing persons cases. The VST will deploy the silent, agile machines to make their search operations more effective.

The scale of the challenge they face is significant. Around 40,000 missing persons cases are reported in the Netherlands every year, and when a case is classified as urgent, the VST is frequently called in to assist. The team is made up entirely of veterans with backgrounds in the police or other uniformed professions, trained to push their searches to the absolute limit regardless of conditions, and they do it all voluntarily.

The Zero XE is a strong fit for that kind of work. Its lightweight, nimble character and whisper-quiet electric drivetrain allow riders to cover ground quickly across terrain that would stop conventional vehicles in their tracks, without the noise that could compromise a search. The swappable battery system adds another practical advantage, keeping the bikes operational during extended deployments.

Dennis van der Kraats, Director of the VST, explained what the donation means for the team: “The Zero XE offers exactly what we need: a platform that lets us move silently across greater distances. It allows our searchers to keep their full focus on finding the missing person. The two machines were handed over at the eRIC expo, a major Dutch emergency response, incident management and crisis control event held at Twente Airport.
