Zero Motorcycles introduces direct-to-home delivery for X Line off-road models
Zero Motorcycles is expanding the sales strategy for its lightweight electric off-road range with a new direct-to-consumer residential drop-ship program. The initiative allows customers to receive their X Line motorcycles directly at home while maintaining the involvement of the brand’s dealer network.

The new program, now active in the United States, enables authorized dealers to sell the XB and XE models in-crate. Customers can opt to have the motorcycle shipped unassembled directly to their residence, where they complete the final assembly themselves using official documentation and video guidance provided by the manufacturer.
According to Zero, the approach is designed to accelerate delivery times and make the purchase process more flexible, while still preserving dealer support for sales, warranty, and service.
Dealer-backed drop-ship program aims to speed up delivery and simplify ownership
“The X Line opened the door to a new generation of electric off-road riders,” said Garrett Johnson, VP of Sales & Customer Experience for North America at Zero Motorcycles. “This program streamlines the purchase process and gives customers a quicker, more flexible way to get on an X Line bike without sacrificing service support from our dealer network.”

Dealer-facilitated, customer-delivered
Under the new structure:
- Authorized dealers can retail XB and XE motorcycles unassembled, in-crate
- Units can be shipped directly to customers via residential freight service
- Sales remain dealer-facilitated, preserving the retail relationship
- The motorcycles retain a 1-year vehicle warranty and 1-year power pack warranty
- Customers receive official Zero assembly instructions and video support
By shipping motorcycles directly from central inventory, Zero also reduces the need for dealers to assemble every unit before delivery. This could improve floor space usage and reduce inventory pressure for participating dealerships.

Responding to the fast-growing e-moto segment
The strategy reflects broader trends in the fast-growing lightweight electric off-road segment, often referred to as the “e-moto” category, where convenience, online purchasing and rapid delivery are becoming increasingly important.
By combining direct home delivery with a dealer-supported sales structure, Zero aims to remain competitive in a market where new electric off-road brands frequently rely on direct-to-consumer distribution models.
For Zero, the move represents a hybrid approach: maintaining its established dealer ecosystem while adopting the speed and flexibility expected by a new generation of electric off-road riders.

Note of THE PACK – Guy Salens: “THE PACK was among the first in Europe to try out the Zero XE. The Skills track in Ingelmunster, home to the Enduro Fun Bikers (EFB), was the place to visit. Test rider was Ziggy, an enduro instructor with EFB, an organization established by Frank Priem. You can find our test review here >“
